AgCarolina Farm Credit recently concluded their third annual community service project in partnership with nearly 50 local farmers in an effort to share fresh produce with nearly 25 food donation centers and distribution partners. All of AgCarolina Farm Credit local branch offices were able to provide a range of fresh produce, including 18 different commodities, to more than 4,500 people in need throughout southeastern North Carolina.
Each produce bag was filled with traditional southern produce from local family farms within southeastern North Carolina including corn, cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, potatoes, squash, zucchini, blueberries, and blackberries. Each bag was filled with enough produce to feed a family of four. This project assisted their members and local farmers by providing an additional distribution avenue for their produce, in addition to feeding local families in need.
In the past three years, this AgCarolina Farm Credit project has supported 127 local farmers, volunteered approximately 630 hours and fed more than 10,500 individuals with fresh, local and healthy produce throughout their local communities. AgCarolina Farm Credit was honored to continue the annual project this year to add to the collective positive impact throughout southeastern North Carolina.
